· Research expertise includes design of particle detectors, particle event reconstruction and analysis, and particle physics phenomenology
· Has led experiments to elucidate the nature of spin effects in high energy particle interactions, including proton-proton elastic scattering and electron-positron scattering
· Developing the computing infrastructure for ATLAS, including high-speed networking between CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics and the US
· Fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences
· Chairs the External Advisory Council of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications
