ANN ARBOR—The Library’s Digital Library Production Service (DLPS) at the University of Michigan provides one stop shopping for scholarly digital resources through OAIster, an innovation providing a catalog of online scholarly materials from collections all over the world; a service that now includes ten million records.

Plus, it allows users to view them immediately in an eminently user-friendly format.

OAIster is an online repository of electronic scholarly archives, including books, journals, dissertations, audio files, films, and images. Accessing digital resources from more than 700 libraries, archives, and repositories, OAIster connects users to a vast array of resources. With no subject parameters to limit its scope, collections on paleontology, fantasy and horror fiction, plate tectonics, and early 20th century French fashion are only a few examples of what can be explored.

While traditional search engines may only provide bibliographic entries for online resources?but not the resources themselves?OAIster directly links users to online resources, and continually harvests its sources for newly added materials. As global digital repositories continue to grow, so will OAIster.
