EVENT: “U-M Intellectual Property and New Jobs Creation”

Lawrence Molnar, associate director of the University of Michigan’s Institute for Research on Labor, Employment and the Economy, will discuss how the state’s manufacturers, biotech firms, medical device firms and other sectors can benefit from intellectual property developed at U-M.

Molnar’s institute runs the Technology and Commercialization Assistance Program, which works to identify existing, well-established firms across Michigan that have a high potential to adapt new intellectual property to current technical or industrial needs.

Molnar, who is also president of the Michigan Business Incubator Association, has been involved in numerous economic development and information technology activities in the state and upper Midwest. He has conducted studies on the business incubation industry in the U.S. and on the best ways to repurpose closed manufacturing facilities in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
