EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

EVENT: Betsey Stevenson, an outspoken member of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers and an associate professor of public policy at the University of Michigan’s Ford School, will give the keynote speech at an event honoring the legacy of Edward M. Gramlich.

The event at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C., honors the spirit of Gramlich, a former member of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, who passed away in 2007. He recognized and warned others about problems surrounding subprime mortgages before massive defaults crippled the housing and banking industries. He was the founding dean of the Gerald R. Ford School and among the most productive policy economists of his day.

The conference is part of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of what is now the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. It brings together more than a dozen leading practitioners of public policy analysis to discuss current issues in economic policy, including income distribution, consumer protection and housing and federal budget policy.

It will conclude with a roundtable of former directors of the Congressional Budget Office, moderated by Douglas Elmendorf, the current director.
