U-M workshop to foster diversity among future scientists

DATE: Application deadline is Feb. 28 for the May conference.

EVENT: NextProf Science is an expenses-paid workshop May 26-29 aimed at future talented science faculty who are currently senior graduate students and postdoctoral trainees.

It aims to bring people with a commitment to diversity to the University of Michigan to demonstrate the benefits and rewards of an academic career, make connections with U-M faculty and academic leaders, and network with other participants.

The NextProf Science 2015 Workshop is free to participants selected to attend through the application process, which closes on Feb. 28. Travel within the United States, lodging and meals will be provided for attendees. Participants will learn how the faculty search process works, how to build successful research programs, and how to form a teaching and mentoring philosophy.
