EVENT: Robotics Day, a showcase of robotics research and a discussion about the future of the industry in Michigan. View demonstrations by U-M and other Michigan universities as well as government and industry. More than 450 attendees are expected.

Highlights include:

• Gov. Rick Snyder will discuss the importance of robotics and autonomous vehicles for Michigan in a keynote address at 9:15 a.m.
• U.S. Sen. Carl Levin will speak at 9:40 a.m.
• Alberto Broggi, a leader in the field of perception for autonomous driving and a professor of computer engineering at the University of Parma in Italy, will speak at 11 a.m. Broggi will discuss the results of what is believed to be the longest test for autonomous driving—an 8,000 mile trip from Italy to China.
• Marty Linn, General Motors principal engineer of robotics, will be a panelist at the 9:45 a.m. session “Interconnected Robotic Systems, From Health Care to Transportation.”
• A flying display of 10-20 small, robotic aerial vehicles is scheduled at noon over the field at Michigan Stadium. Participating organizations include U-M spinoff SkySpecs LLC; Northwestern Michigan College Unmanned Aerial Systems Team; Detroit Ribbon Farm Maker; and Parrot.

PLACE: Michigan Stadium, Jack Roth Stadium Club, 1201 S. Main St., Ann Arbor. Parking will be available on the Michigan Stadium concourse.
