ANN ARBOR — Two University of Michigan graduate students have been named 1997 Fellows of the International Predissertation Fellowship Program.

Jennifer Gaynor of the Bronx, N.Y., is studying anthropology and history; Sara Peracca of Westport, Conn., is studying sociology.

International Predissertation Fellowships are training fellowships awarded by the Social Science Research Council and the American Council of Learned Societies, with funding from the Ford Foundation, to encourage the most promising students of social science to prepare to undertake research in the developing world.

The fellowships are intended to promote the internalization of social science and to foster an international community of scholars conducting social science research.

The Program offers 12-month training fellowships to students in economics, political science, sociology, psychology, history, anthropology, geography and demography.
