Regents approve administrative appointments

ANN ARBOR—Administrative appointments approved by the University of Michigan Regents at their May 20-21 meeting included:
James M. Borders, associate professor of music (musicology), was reappointed as associate dean of graduate studies of the School of Music, effective Sept. 1, 1999-Albert F. Yee, professor of materials science and engineering and macromolecular science and engineering, was reappointed as chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, effective Linda P.B. Katehi, professor of electrical engineering and computer science, will serve as associate dean for academic affairs of the College of Engineering, effective Sept. 1, 1999-Aug. 31, 2004.
Daniel H. Levine, professor of political science, will serve as chair of the Department of Political Science, effective Carol J. Loveland-Cherry, professor of nursing, will serve as associate dean for academic affairs at the School of Nursing, effective Matthew O’Donnell, the Jerry W. and Carol L. Levin Professor of Engineering, professor of biomedical engineering and professor of electrical engineering and computer science, will serve as chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, effective Sept. 1, 1999-Aug. 31, 2004.
Robert F. Todd III, the Frances and Victor Ginsberg Professor of Hematology/Oncology and professor of internal medicine, will serve as U-M associate vice president for research, effective Kensall D. Wise, the J. Reid and Polly Anderson Professor of Manufacturing Technology, professor of electrical engineering and computer science and professor of biomedical engineering, will serve as associate dean for research at the College of Engineering, effective Sept. 1, 1999-Aug. 31, 2004.
E. Royster Harper, senior associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students, will serve as interim vice president for student affairs, effective June 8. (Harper’s nomination to the post was announced April 19.)
Allen S. Lichter, professor of radiation oncology and interim dean of the Medical School, will become dean of the Medical School, effective Web: http://www.umich.edu/~newsinfo/
