ANN ARBOR—University of Michigan Regents, at their July 15 meeting, approved the renovation of the Literature, Science and the Arts Building.

The project will involve a total renovation of approximately 126,000 gross square feet, said Robert Kasdin, U-M executive vice president. “Most of the net area within the building, constructed in 1948, will continue to house the core functions of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts‘ administration as well as provide space to some of the College’s academic and support functions.”

The state of Michigan will fund $16.5 million and the University will fund the balance of the estimated $25 million project.

The Regents also appointed the firm of SHG Incorporated for the project’s design.
