Young subjects needed for study of physical activity

ANN ARBOR—A University of Michigan School of Nursing researcher is conducting a study to determine how adolescents feel about engaging in physical activity.

Approximately 112 healthy pre-teens and teens between the ages of 10 and 17 are needed for the study. Research participants will participate in two, one-hour testing sessions at a time convenient for them. The sessions will involve answering questions about physical activity and a brief treadmill walk/run.

The sessions will be conducted at the U-M Central Campus Recreation Building, 401 Washtenaw Ave. (corner of Washtenaw and Geddes avenues).

Each research participant will receive a $15 gift certificate to a clothing store after completing both sessions. They will also be reimbursed $10 for travel costs. Parking spaces and a waiting room with snacks will be provided for parents while they wait for their son or daughter to complete the test sessions.

For more information, contact the project’s principal investigator, Lorraine Robbins at (734) 647-0354 during the month of July or August.
