From “The Week in Soaps” to the croaking of bullfrogs, the Michigan Electronic Library (MEL) puts more than 20,000 Internet resources at your fingertips.
Available at http://mel.org, this online information system gives Michigan residents free access to electronic resources through the Internet. These resources have been selected and evaluated by librarians for use by the state’s libraries, schools and citizens. MEL is a collaborative effort by the Michigan library community and the University of Michigan’s University Library.
Fourteen major subject areas with more than 70 commercial databases and 26,000 free Internet sites are available. Subject areas include: Business, Economics & Labor; Children & Young Adults; Education; Michigan; Government, Politics and Law; Health Information Resources; Humanities & the Arts; The Internet & Computers; Libraries & Information Science; News, Media & Periodicals; Recreation & Leisure; Reference Desk; Science & the Environment; Social Issues and Social Services.
