Faculty salary increases average 5.9 percent

ANN ARBOR—Faculty salary increases at the University of Michigan for 1999-2000 averaged 5.9 percent, according to figures from the University’s Salary Record released today (Jan. 21).

Salary increases for staff at all grades averaged 3.9 percent. The staff averages include salaries for employees in the U-M Health System and exclude bargained-for employees.

Merit salary increases for the University’s executive officers averaged 5.74 percent. Merit increases for deans averaged 4.55 percent.

The U-M Regents voted today to set U-M President Lee C. Bollinger‘s salary at $311,000, effective Sept. 1, 1999, and continuing through Aug. 31, 2000. The new salary reflects a merit increase of approximately 5 percent.
