ANN ARBOR—Documentary photographer Paula Allen, whose pictures have recorded women’s histories the world over, will present many of her works Feb. 9-11 at the University of Michigan.

The free, public series, “Documenting Women’s Struggles: The Power of Image and Intimacy,” will feature slide presentations and discussion by Allen on work from her recently published book “Flowers in the Desert.” The book is based on her decade-long work with women of northern Chile and their search for the missing bodies of relatives executed after the 1973 military coup.

Allen, who also has covered the Solidarity movement in Poland, the dismantling of the Berlin Wall and the conflict in Northern Ireland, will present photographs from her current book project documenting women’s lives in two villages in war-torn Kosovo.
