CEW honors 34 women scholars

ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan Center for the Education of Women (CEW) awarded 34 scholarships in their 30th Scholarship Award Program, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the CEW.

The CEW Scholarship Award Program honors returning women students whose education has been interrupted. Scholarships are awarded based on goals, commitment, academic record and promise, strength of motivation and need.

Award winners are:

ANN ARBOR—Josette Banks, pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, received a Jane Gibson Likert Scholarship; Sarah Bauer, pursuing a B.S.N. in nursing, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship; Angie Beatty, pursuing a Ph.D. in communication studies, received a Dorothy Gies McGuigan Scholarship; Patricia Buck, pursuing an M.B.A. in business, received a Helen Huff Shell Scholarship; Anne Conway, pursuing a Ph.D. in social work and developmental psychology, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship; Jacqueline Courteau, pursuing a Ph.D. in biology, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship; Julie Fattore, pursuing a D.D.S. in dentistry, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship;

Annette Rook, pursuing an M.P.P. in public policy and social work, received an American Association of University Women Scholarship; Susan Sekreta, pursuing a D.D.S. in dentistry, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship; Tincuta Verotti, pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry, received a Lucile B. Conger Alumnae Scholarship; Elizabeth Williams, pursuing a Ph.D. in American culture, received a Gail Allen Scholarship; Monique Williams, pursuing a B.S.N. in nursing, received a Molly H. Dobson Scholarship; Rachel Zamek, pursuing an M.F.A. in art and design, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

ALLEN PARK—Cynthia Hodnicki, pursuing a B.A. in education, received an Ann Frances Millman Scholarship.

DETROIT—Kimberly Porter, pursuing an M.A. in social work, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

HOLLY—Debra King, pursuing an M.P.H. in epidemiology and public health, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

OXFORD—Susan Huber, pursuing an M.S.N. in nursing and gerontology, received a Lucile B. Conger Alumnae Scholarship.

SOUTHFIELD—Amanda Magnuson, pursuing a B.A. in education, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

SOUTHGATE—Victoria Graham, pursuing a B.S. in education, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

YPSILANTI—Elizabeth Dorda, pursuing a B.S.N. in nursing received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

YELLOW SPRINGS, OHIO—Sandra Tarbox, pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education, received a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholarship.

BERLIN, GERMANY—Elizabeth Otto, pursuing a Ph.D. in art history, received a Raphael Fellowship.
