ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan’s visiting writers series continues with four readings in October

Peter Davison will present a poetry reading at 5 p.m. Oct. 10 at the U-M Rackham Amphitheater. Davison is the author of 10 books of poetry. His first, “The Breaking of the Day,” won the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award in 1963 and his most recent book, “Breathing Room,” is currently being published. Davison’s career includes working at the Atlantic MonthlyRichard Tillinghast will present a poetry reading at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at Rackham Amphitheater. Tillinghast is a U-M professor and the author of six books of poetry. He has also written many travel essays and book reviews for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and other periodicals.

Elizabeth McCracken will present a fiction reading at 5 p.m. Oct. 19 at Angell Hall, Room 3222. McCracken’s writings have appeared in Esquire, the New York Times Magazine, Elle and Granta. She is the author of a book of short stories, “Here’s Your Hat What’s Your Hurry,” and two novels, “The Giant’s House: A Romance,” and “Niagara Falls All Over Again.” She is the recipient of writing awards from Salon, Barnes and Noble/Discover Great New Writers and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Lisel Mueller will present a poetry reading at 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Michigan Union Pendleton Room. Mueller’s most recent book, “Alive Together: New & Selected Poems,” won the Pulitzer Prize in 1997. She is the author of six other books of poetry, earning the Carl Sandburg Prize for “Waving From Shore” and the National Book Award for “The Need to Hold Still.”
