Body found in parking structure

Body found in parking structure ANN ARBOR—An unresponsive body was found Sunday (Jan. 28) afternoon in a vehicle parked in the Glen Street parking structure on the University of Michigan campus, announced Bill Bess, director of U-M's Department of Public Safety. The body, discovered by a U-M Hospitals security officer, was identified as Laning Ross Davidson, 56, of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. Davidson, who was declared dead at the scene, had been reported missing for several days. "Our preliminary investigation indicated no signs of outward trauma or foul play," Bess said. "However, we'll have to wait for the medical examiner's autopsy to determine the exact cause and time of death." Davidson received two bachelor of science in engineering degrees from the U-M in 1967—engineering physics and science engineering. He was not currently affiliated with the University. "It is too early to know why Mr. Davidson was in the parking structure or how long he had been there," Bess said. Additional details are unknown at this time, but will be released as the investigation allows. Department of Public Safety
