Public forum on the Bush tax cut plan April 4

ANN ARBOR—University of Michigan tax experts Joel Slemrod and James Hines will join Detroit Free Press columnist Doron Levin in a free, public forum to discuss President Bush’s proposed tax cut plan at 4:15-5:45 p.m. April 4.

Moderated by U-M law Prof. Kyle Logue, “America’s Tax Cut—Is It Yours, Too?” will take place at the U-M Business School‘s Hale Auditorium. Slemrod, professor of economics and business, is the director of the U-M Office of Tax Policy Research (OTPR). Hines is a professor of business and the research director of OTPR.

The forum is part of OTPR’s “y2e” series of panel discussions that have focused on last November’s presidential election and the economy.

OTPR is a non-partisan research office at the U-M Business School that supports and disseminates academic research on all aspects of the tax system, with the goal of informing discussion about the future course of policy.
