21st Workplace Wellness Conference

ANN ARBOR—”Gains for the Organization” will be the theme when the University of Michigan Health Management Research Center hosts its 21st annual Wellness in the Workplace Conference A., 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 20 at the Michigan League.

Some 100 employers, educators, researchers and health professionals will share their perspectives on work-site wellness, health care cost containment, recruitment and retention, social responsibility and related topics. Registration is $95.

“More and more corporations are recognizing that investment in the well-being of people brings about positive results in terms of lower health care costs, higher productivity and higher quality products and services,” says HMRC Director Dee W. Edington.

He will present an update on “Wellness as a Serious Business Strategy” along with key speakers George Pfeiffer, president of the WorkCare Group, Inc., and Wayne Burton, M.D., senior vice president and corporate medical director, Bank One. Other presenters include Pam Witting, manager of health services, Honeywell; Stephen Tharrett, vice president of ClubCorp, and Frederick Price, representing the Livonia Public Schools.
