ANN ARBOR—A panel discussion on “The Role of Science and Technologyin Motorsports” is open to the public 4 p.m. Monday (General Motors Motorsports Executive Director Herb Fishel, NASCAR team owner Jack Roush and retired Ford Motor Company executive Neil Ressler.

The discussion is part of a day-long symposium, “The Physics and Technology of Motorsports,” presented by the U-M Department of Physics with the U-M College of Engineering, honoring Ressler, a U-M alumnus who retired last year from Ford as vice president of research and vehicle technology and chief technical officer, and chairman of Cosworth Racing, chairman of Pi Group and CEO of Jaguar Racing.

Joining Ressler and a roster of experts from industry and academe in the symposium, will be former world-champion driver, TV commentator and race team owner Sir Jackie Stewart.
