ANN ARBOR—Nobel Peace Laureate Oscar Arias, former president of Costa Rica, will talk about “Moral Leadership in Today’s World” during the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy annual Citigroup Lecture at 4 p.m. April 17 at the U-M Business School Hale Auditorium.

Arias, who won the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize for his Central American peace plan, served as president of Costa Rica from 1986 to 1990. Since leaving office, he has continued his pursuit of global peace and human security through the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress, which he founded in 1988.

The U-M Ford School of Public Policy traces its beginnings to 1914, when the University founded the Institute of Public Administration—one of the first programs of its kind in the nation. Its interdisciplinary programs are designed to prepare students to work in policy analysis and public management. Students are trained in economic, political, organizational and quantitative analysis in domestic and international policy.

Arias’ talk is free to the public. For more information, contact Catherine Shaw at the Ford School: cashaw@umich.edu or (734) 764-8593.
