Charla Wise to Speak at Engineering Graduation

ANN ARBOR—Alumna Charla (Kamm) Wise (BSE AS ’75), Vice President of Engineering at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, will be the featured speaker at the 2002 University of Michigan College of Engineering graduation ceremony, Saturday, April 27, 4 p.m., at Crisler Arena.

Wise, an aerospace industry professional for 26 years, is responsible for more than 8,000 engineering personnel in three Lockheed Martin sites. She also oversees the company’s processes, monitors its production to ensure technical excellence, and controls the delivery of engineering tools and resources.

Her career path has taken her through a number of pivotal positions, starting in 1975 with General Dynamics. She accepted a promotion to manager in 1985 and, in 1987, became director of General Dynamics’ F-16 Programs. In 1994, Wise moved into the position of Vice President and Program Director of the F-22 Program. In 1998, she became Vice President of Engineering of the entire Fort Worth division, which by then had been acquired by Lockheed Martin. Wise was appointed Vice President of Engineering for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in 2000.

Ms. Wise is a member of the U-M College of Engineering’s National Advisory Committee, the Aerospace Engineering department’s Industrial Advisory Committee and the Tauber Manufacturing Institute Industry (requires acrobat) Advisory Board.
