President of ABC News to speak at University of Michigan

ANN ARBOR—David Westin, former Ann Arbor resident, University of Michigan alumnus and president of ABC News, will provide a look behind the scenes of network news during a special presentation, “An Evening With David Westin,” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 24) in the Ballroom of the Michigan Union. Westin, a graduate of the U-M Law School, has served as president of ABC News since March 1997. He is responsible for all aspects of the management of the news division and for all ABC News programs, policies and personnel. He has 20 years of experience encompassing television network issues and production, news and domestic and international law. His years of experience directing the production of news at a television network provide him with a unique perspective on world events and how the media portrays them. University President Mary Sue Coleman will introduce Westin. The evening event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the University Library, the Office of the Vice President for Communications and the University Library. A benefit dinner with Westin will be held in the Pendleton Room on the second floor of the Michigan Union after the presentation. The dinner is $100 per person including a $50 tax-deductible contribution in support of the collections and services of the University Library. Reservations are required. Seating is limited.
