Public opinion pollster to discuss Israeli-Palestinian conflict ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Asher Arian, a distinguished professor of comparative politics at the City University of New York Graduate Program in Political Science, will address Israeli-Palestinian conflict 4-6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the University of Michigan. Arian will give his talk, “Israeli Public Opinion: From War to Peace and Back Again,” at the International Institute, Room 2660, School of Social Work Building, 1080 S. University Ave. He was the Romulo Betancourt Professor of Political Science at Tel Aviv University and has been a visiting professor at many universities. He has served as president of the Israel Association of Political Science, editor of the Book Series of the International Political Science Association and vice president of IPSA's Program Committee. Some of Arian’s publications include "Security Threatened: Surveying Israeli Opinion on Peace and War" (Cambridge University Press, 1995); and "Collective Identity and Electoral Competition in Israel" (Chatham House, 1998). The event—which is part of the International Institute Initiative on Religion, Security, and Violence in Global Contexts—is free and open to the public.
