Ambassador Ron Weiser to discuss business opportunities in Central Europe at Michigan Business School

EVENT: Ronald N. Weiser, U.S. Ambassador to the Slovak Republic, will deliver the University of Michigan Business School’s 37th annual William K. McInally Memorial Lecture. The topic of the free, public talk is "Central European Transition: Opportunity for American Diplomacy and Business."

PLACE: Hale Auditorium, located in the Business School’s Assembly Hall on the corner of Hill and Tappan streets.

BACKGROUND: Weiser, who earned a bachelor’s degree from the Business School in 1966, founded McKinley Associates, a national real estate investment company, in 1968 and served as its chairman and CEO until he was appointed ambassador in 2001.

He was a member of the board of directors and past chairman of Quantumshift, a California Internet-based telephone company that he helped found. He also has chaired or served on the boards of many non-profit organizations, including Artrain USA, the U-M President’s Advisory Board, the Michigan Business School’s National Development Board, and the Michigan Theater Board of Trustees.

The McInally Lecture began in 1966 in memory of William K. McInally, who served on the U-M Board of Regents from 1960 until 1964. Past speakers include Madeleine Albright, Andrew Young, Martha Seger, William Rukeyser and F. Lee Bailey.
