EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

EVENT: In 2003, “The Pianist” won two Academy Awards and other honors for its story of Wladislaw Szpilman, a Polish Jew and concert pianist (played by Adrien Brody) who witnessed the Nazi invasion of Warsaw and eluded the concentration camps. Szpilman’s son, Chris, comes to the University of Michigan to discuss his father’s life.

In “The Pianist’s life after the war: My father’s tragic experiences in World War II and the difficulty of forgetting,” Szpilman will discuss his father’s attempts to repress memories of the ordeal that erected a barrier between father and son.
