Unauthorized U-M data access is under investigation

ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, of unauthorized access and public release of data from the February 2004 U-M Surveys of Consumers.

Since the incident is under active investigation, U-M officials are unable to comment beyond noting that a full review of all security measures has been initiated. New security measures have been implemented and pending the completion of the review, additional measures may be instituted if necessary.
